Do we have to come back?

Apparently it's cold in San Diego right now. I hardly noticed.

34 kilometer run yesterday all around the Bay and along the beach. Today, a recovery run on the sand on Coronado Island. I seriously think I'm in heaven.

Maya is fascinated with birds. She gets so excited every time she sees one and signs "bird" and then flaps her arms. She has not yet figured out she cannot catch them. Her efforts are relentless.

As we sit here sipping wine by the fire on the patio of our beach house, we feel like we've crawled out of our winter den. Maya has walked on grass and sand for the first time today, and we all got a good dose of vitamin D. We managed to squeeze in an outdoor breakfast, a nap, multiple beach walks, a visit to the sea lions, and a 14 km run in, all on day one. Utter perfection.

We are lucky, so very very lucky.

Look closely. Not rocks, but sea lions.
